Paint Out Etiquette
Adopt these behaviors whenever you go out to paint. Remember, you are a reflection of MPAS. We want to be enthusiastically welcomed as artists, not thought of as ‘those darned artists”.
Etiquette:
Comply with the rules of the location.
Be considerate and respectful. Think.
Don’t block another artist’s view
If you want to listen to music, wear earbuds so others may enjoy the sounds of Nature
Do not trample the flora or mess with the fauna.
Do not ‘rearrange’ Nature. Move to a different spot if you don’t like your view.
Do not cut branches or pick flowers
Have little or no impact
Put a tarp down if you have messy mediums (oil, acrylic, pastel) or painting materials (turpentine, solvents, fixitive sprays) that might be harmful or distracting to the environment.
Leave nothing behind.
Be conscious of your surroundings.
Be alert for animals – this is their habitat
Be aware of other people – Don’t block their view or passage.
Carry in / Carry Out
This means don’t leave trash or dump your mediums or dirty rinse water. Bring a trash bag and a jar or other container for your liquid waste. Carry it home and dispose of it.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) will pick up your waste materials like turpentine and other harmful media up to 12 times a year. Use them!
Leave no trace –
Use the public restroom. Don’t go in the bushes if possible.
Don’t leave food behind for the animals. Throw it away.
Don’t hide your trash or evidence. Don’t leave ANYTHING.
Leave the location more pristine than you found it.
Find a trash receptacle or carry it out.
